My name is Tien Lee Austin, I was born on June 18 1993. I come from a family that consists of artists, and scientists. Therefore I grew up in a very creative and interesting environmenT. I think that all of those things contributed to my creative outlook on life. Also growing up in HAwaii my parents thought it was important to become connected to the ocean through surfing. By doing this my love for the ocean has grown exponentially since I have lived here.

    Even though I enjoy drawing and design, I plan to pursue journalism in college. Journalism appeals to me because I would be able to interact with many different people, and to travel the world. My dream would be to work for National Geographic magazine and travel the world writing about different events and happenings around the world. Another magazine that I would love to work for would be surfer magazine. If I were to work for surfer magazine i would be able to pursue my dream of traveling and interacting with many different interesting and inspirational people.

    My interest in journalism derived from being in english class and writing so many essays. Although many people find that writing so many essays are dull and repetitive, I find writing essays to be fun and exhilarating. Mrs.Blaber, my favorite teacher, introduced my love for writing by constantly forcing my classmates and I to write essays. I also love reading books and annotating them. I think that I enjoy this so much because there is usually a hidden meaning under the literal meaning of each book, and finding that hidden meaning is always exciting, and almost like a treasure hunt.
